Thoughts on moving – and kittehs!

Happy Monday, everyone! And happy April.

This month is the big moving month for me. Time to sort through and pack up eight years worth of stuff. This weekend I did a good amount of packing. The only room that isn’t more than 3/4 of the way done is my bedroom, but I’ll get to it this week.

While I am very excited to start this next chapter, I am a little sad about leaving my lovely abode. Lots of good memories were made here. I’ll miss some things a lot, like the patio, the neighborhood, some of the neighbors (haha), and the view out the patio onto the front yard. I’m excited to move, but it’s also been emotionally tiring, which is interesting.

Last Thursday I was totally exhausted from all those emotions so I came home and chilled out. It was really nice. I usually do some sort of chilling when I get home, but that night I got home, fed the kitties, then got a crossword puzzle and laid on the couch. The TV was on but it was muted so it was a very nice, peaceful quiet time. I think we all need quiet times like that and don’t get them often enough. I will really miss those quiet times with the perfect weather and the patio door open.

A very peaceful, wonderful Thursday afternoon.

What I won’t miss?

80-degree thermostat

Yep, that’s 80 degrees.

Do you see that? It was about 70 degrees this past weekend. Beautiful weather. But my landlords don’t turn off the heat until about May, so it was a balmy 80 degrees in my apartment. (I took that picture at or before 11 am, so I’m sure it got even hotter later in the day.) Even when they do turn off the heat, it’s pretty flippin’ hot; always has been. The poor kitties were flopped out this whole weekend. Didn’t want to to play or anything. 😦 I know they will enjoy having a cooler abode this summer.

(I laughed this morning because a local radio personality was complaining how “It was a beautiful weekend, about 70 degrees outside but because heat is included in my rent, it was 140 degrees in my apartment!” I can so relate.)

That’s about it for now. I’m very much looking forward to getting unpacked and settled in the new digs! I hope to go back to more regular posting then. 🙂
