The Rosie Bee

Starring Grizzy and Sophie

Back in bed

Sophie chillin’ in her human bed.

Ah, the life of a cat, being able to use your humans as a mattress/blanket/heating pad.

Can I go back to bed? Please? Or have another few days off? I had a nice holiday, and spent lots of time with family, but now I need a day to catch up on everything else…like cleaning and laundry, and a side project that came in. Thankfully I’ve got some PTO banked and I plan to take a couple Fridays off.

Now…to be productive! Wish me luck! And I hope you have a productive, happy week too. 🙂

Grizzy at the window

Grizzy at the window pane

I wonder what’s out there?

I spied the G-cat at the window the other day and was lucky enough to snap a picture. He was there for quite a while. I wonder what he was looking at? I’m so glad he has more perches and windows to gaze out of now. 🙂

Thankful Thursday

I’m thankful for so much, but I’m especially thankful for moments like this:

Sammipup, Sophie, Grizzykitty

I had been sitting with these three prior to taking the picture.

It was such a sweet moment. 🙂

In more thankful moments, I’m so happy I did a phone dump onto my computer last night! I’m now in the process – and not just thinking of it, haha – of sorting through images and then uploading them to Dropbox or the like. I hope to stay more organized going forward, deleting and/or transferring images weekly or month. It just helps me function better.

May you have a lovely Thursday!

How is it November already? (Mini-mind dump edition)

Allllrightee, it’s now November 8 which means we are a full week into November already. Where is the time going?!

I have started writing a blog post countless times and deleted it. I think my biggest issue is my computer (a laptop) isn’t set up on my desk because other stuff is there. If I’m at my home desk, I can type, complete, publish. If I’m at work or on the couch at home, I get distracted. That said, I am bound and determined to find a permanent home for my laptop this weekend, and for right now, well, this starting-and-stopping is ridiculous so here is a mini-mind dump! 😀

The Homestead
I’ve been cleaning up the house and slowly but surely getting things organized. When I get misty-eyed thinking of how my apartment was *just how* I wanted it, I remember I was there for several years and it went through several iterations of being.

Our front door with harvest decor

All decked out for fall!

A perfect micro-example of this at the new house is the front door. First I put out two pumpkins. Then I found a cute little harvest-esque wreath. Then I remembered I had a Halloween slate tile, as well as fall door mat. Lastly my sweetie tied some corn husks* to the rails and voila! Granted, this all happened over the course of two weeks or so, and it all happened in pieces, but I’m so pleased with the results.

Knitting
This is another work-in-progress situation. I took a lace knitting class in late September, early October. The project was a scarf with various lace knitting stitches. Lots of new things to learn and master. Everything was moving along fairly well with minor hiccups until Chart 6. OMG, I think I ripped out that section at least 10 times. Last night I finally (finally!) completed it.

My beginning lace knit scarf.

It looks messy, but once it’s blocked you should be able to see the pattern nicely.

The good thing about redoing it so many times is I feel like I’ve mastered nupps (kind of like a bobble–basically, they are a little nub and add some texture to knitting) and I have a much better handle on gauging where I’m at and troubleshooting by investigating specific rows and stitches instead of having to rip *everything* out because of one stitch I messed up. So, it was a very good learning process.

Maine
Oh, Maine…I still get emotional when I look at the pictures of the ocean. It was breathtaking. Check it out:

Maine shoreline...simply stunning.

Maine shoreline…simply stunning.

I have it on my list to upload those photos to Dropbox this weekend so I can sort them and put them in a book or on the blog. Suffice to say, New England was beautiful and I would totally go back. I’d even run another half marathon there. 🙂

The Cats!
I saved the best for last. Oh, my small fries. I can’t tell if they enjoy not being in a furnace (aka my old apartment) anymore? We do have the heat on so it’s warm but not not stifling like at my old place. They do seem to be sleeping on top of each other more often, which is sweet. A few times now I’ve looked over and see a black blob and I squint and realize they’re *both* there.

Snuggled up on their cushion.

Sophie is having a hard time accepting that us silly humans must abide by the dreaded Daylight Saving Time. Sunday morning she woke me up at 5 am (which 24 hours prior had been 6 am). This whole week it’s been going on like that. I do appreciate the help, because I’m trying to get up by 5:30, but the transition is still a little rough.

Grizzy is usually sleeping on his chair when I get up but as soon as I walk into the kitchen he’s there for his drive-by leg rubs. He’s such a mellow kitty.

That’s about it for now. I’ll be working on organizing this weekend so I can actually get back to blogging!

Have a wonderful rest o’ the week!

*These started sprouting outside out kitchen window. The neighbors two houses down have some box gardens with corn, so I assume the birds carried the seeds over. It’s pretty neat!
